Miss Hirst and Mrs Wolstenholme are the teachers in Reception. Mrs Donnelly and Miss Jackson are the teaching assistants who support the children in Year R.

Autumn 2019

Christmas 2019

The children in Reception thoroughly enjoyed their Christmas celebrations. A fabulous festive lunch, where the children wore Christmas jumpers or festive attire was enjoyed by all during the first week of December. The children even designed and made their own party hats. During the last week of the Autumn term the children also participated in party games during their Christmas Party. Great fun was had by all.

The children pretended to go on a jungle journey in PE lessons. They moved in different ways and pretended that balls are coconuts as they rolled them to their animal friends.

: The children enjoyed the stpryteller.

: The children were able to join in with the storytelling.

: Chris Bostock visited the Reception Classes.

The children in Reception enjoyed searching for conkers on their recent walk into Leafland. They talked about the changing colours of the leaves and they collected a variety of items to bring into the classroom.

Early Years Foundation Stage 2019 20

Phase 1 phonics

In order to prepare the children for learning to read, we having been doing many phase 1 phonics activities. These activities have included singing, clapping syllables, exploring the sounds of musical instruments and rhyming activities.

Settling into school. We have welcomed 60 children into Reception this year. They have settled in well and are beginning to learn the routines and are already loving learning. There are many speaking and listening opportunities indoors and outdoors.
